On Friday, September 13th, a group of ETA volunteers visited Cradles to Crayons in West Conshohocken, PA to help sort and package donations.

Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit organization that collects new and like-new children’s items to provide homeless and low-income children with essential materials.

These donations are processed and packaged by volunteers and are then distributed to disadvantaged children across the state through a collaborative network of social service agencies and school partners.

While at Cradles to Crayons, ETA’s volunteers were tasked with quality-checking donated toys and sorting approved items by gender and age.  They then had the task of making toy packages filled with an assortment of board games, musical instruments, outdoor toys, and educational devices.
These toy packages will eventually be a part of a shipment, known as a KidPack, consisting of a week’s supply of clothing, toys, books and school supplies.

This is the fourth time ETA has had the opportunity to contribute to Cradles to Crayons, but the first time the volunteers were involved in the toy package element.  In the past, our ETA volunteers have helped by matching and packaging clothing for children in need.
