ETA volunteers took a trip to the Philabundance Food Bank on Wednesday, December 17th to help sort and package canned food donations.

Philabundance's mission is to end hunger and malnutrition in the Delaware Valley by acquiring food and distributing it through organizations serving people in need. Philabundance relies on more than 60% of support from volunteer services to help feed our hungry Delaware Valley neighbors.

On Thursday, December 4th, a large group of ETA volunteers visited Cradles to Crayons in West Conshohocken, PA to help sort and package donations.

Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit organization that collects new and like-new children's items to provide homeless and low-income children with essential materials.  These donations are processed and packaged by volunteers and are then distributed to disadvantaged children across the state through a collaborative network of social service agencies and school partners.

Philadelphia Reads Day marks the Philadelphia area’s observance of Read Across America, which celebrates the March 2nd birthday and legacy of Theodore Geisel (better known as Dr. Seuss) by spreading the word about the fun and significance of reading. Read Across America was started in March of 1998 by the National Education Association as a way to celebrate reading.

In an effort to help less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas, ETA collected $2,000 in donations through many 50/50 drawings in 2013.  For the 6th year in a row, the donations were used to purchase hundreds of new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, a U.S. Marine Corps foundation that works to collect and distribute toys to less fortunate children during the holiday season.

Members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve stopped by ETA Headquarters on Friday, December 20, 2013 to pick up all of the donations.
